Home Alone
I have been left unsupervised.
Shhh.
Don't tell.
Actually, I'm not doing anything exciting at all.
Ordered in Chinese, watched some TV, went through the two-foot-high pile of mail.
Ran the dishwasher.
Fed the cats.
Thrilling, right?
Well, yeah.
'cause Zach is out of town.
He's down in Baltimore, having a little family reunion and seeing his mom in a show. And not, for the first night in something like 10 weeks, taking care of me.
I'm doing that all by myself.
And even though he is exceptional at it—much better than I am—it's good to know that he doesn't have to do it all the time.
(That autonomy thing works both ways, you see.)

Don't stay up too late. Make sure you're pushing those fluids. Be sure to do your exercises. There's some of your mom's chicken soup in the freezer, if you want....and I think there's a little smoked turkey left over for sandwiches.
There's no better medicine around than a husband's sweet words.
It is so heartening to see love and autonomy in action....
