Discretion and Valor
Felt better this morning.
Went to the writers' conference.
Came home.
Did everything we had to do before leaving for DC.
Felt worse again.
Called off the trip.
Moped around the apartment.
Moped around the neighborhood.
Resisted buying a whole box of Yankee Doodles.
Searched in vain for an individual package of Yankee Doodles.
Eschewed individual packages of HoHos.
Eschewed individual packages of Ring Dings.
Eschewed individual packages of Twinkies.
Eschewed individual packages of Ding Dongs.
Eschewed individual packages of Yodels.
Eschewed individual packages of Sunny Doodles.
Finally settled for Devil Dogs.
I don't care what anyone says.
They're just not the same.

ok, I have to know: What the hell is a Yankee Doodle? Can we get one of those links up for the uninformed? Wikipedia doesn't have anything helpful, this time...
Yankee Doodles are creme-filled devil's food cakes; whereas Devil Dogs are, um, creme-filled devil's food cakes.
Both of them are Drake's Cakes products.
Oh, and here's your wiki wiki wiki entry.
Saying that they are both "creme-filled devil's food cakes" without any further distinction is reductive and facile.
Devil Dogs have way too much creme—the cake-to-creme proportion is all wrong.
And even if it's the same exact batter, the cake in a Devil Dog always tastes dried out, whereas the cake in a Yankee Doodle is moist and yummy. (Granted, neither is intended for a sophisticated palate. This is comfort food, yo.)
Also, Yankee Doodles come three to a pack. Devil Dog packages only have two measly treats. (Although two is more than you need, really. They should go for single packs.)
Any other questions?
I'm tellin' you, Susie Qs are the way to go....
